Schedule Weights Overview
Until now, all activities in your WBS structure contributed to progress calculations dependent on their target material. Now you are able to adjust the weight of each value to reflect each activity's relative importance in progress calculations.
How It Works
Every activity starts with a default weight of 1. You can adjust this value up or down (including to 0) to reflect each activity's relative importance in progress calculations. Higher weights mean greater contribution to overall progress, while lower weights reduce influence.
To adjust a schedule weight. navigate to your schedule it sitemark, and click on any line item on that schedule.
Once you've accessed that line item, you are able to adjust the weight of that scheduled item in the menu.
This flexibility enables more sophisticated progress tracking that aligns with your project's real-world priorities and complexities.
With schedule weights, you can now:
Prioritize critical activities: Assign higher weights to activities that have greater impact on project timelines or resource allocation.
Improve progress accuracy: Create a more realistic representation of your project's actual status by weighting activities based on effort, cost, or strategic importance.
Focus on what matters: Reduce noise in progress reporting by setting weights to zero for monitoring-only activities that shouldn't affect overall progress calculations.
Customize for your workflow: Tailor progress tracking to match your team's unique project management methodology and reporting requirements.
