What Are Digital Components?
Digital components in Sitemark are:
Geo-referenced objects on the map
Clickable and interactive
Enriched with data such as construction stage, quality status, or inspection tickets
Useful for progress tracking using drone data and managing site tasks
Step-by-Step: Importing Components
1. Access Your Site
Log in to the Sitemark platform.
Navigate to the relevant site where you want to import components.
2. Upload Your Design File (DXF)
Click Upload Design File.
Drag and drop your
.dxffile into the upload area.Note: PDF files can also be uploaded but are only for visual reference—DXF is required for importing components.
Once uploaded, your design file will appear and be viewable on the map, including all layers.
🛠 Need help preparing your DXF? Follow this guide to ensure your file is Sitemark-compatible. If you're unable to do this, reach out to your Customer Success Manager or email us at support@sitemark.com. We can help!
3. Create Components from Design File
Go to the Components tab on the left-hand menu.
Click Create Components.
Choose Import from Design File (not PV Case).
Click Add Component, then select the type (e.g., solar panels).
4. Configure the Component Import
A dialog will appear:
Name: Enter a name for your component (e.g., "Modules").
Layer Selection: Choose the relevant layer from your DXF that represents the components (e.g., solar panels).
You will see a preview on the map to confirm selection.
4a. For Fences & Trenches: Divide into segments
Fences and trench components need to be split iinto sections. Ideally of 1m.
this allows for sectional completion of the components
To do this, toggle the divide into segments checkbox
Choose which segment length you want to use (we suggest 1m)
5. Optional: Add Naming Configuration
If your design file includes text labels or IDs for components:
Select the layer containing those labels.
These will be used to automatically name the components.
6. Complete the Import
Click Next.
Click Import.
Wait for the platform to process and generate the components.
Refresh if needed to see updates.
The component type will appear, initially with a count of 0 until processing completes.
Custom Components
Track components on your site that aren't automatically detected by Sitemark.
These are Components that you define in the project that Sitemark doesn't have as automated built‑ins for. (for example: silt fences, cameras, interior works, roads variations)
How To Add in your Site
Create a company‑level Component Type first
Go to Components → Types and add a new type. Use “Custom” if it’s not a built‑in.
Naming/renaming of company component types is supported and under active refinement
On a Per Site Level
Tracking Custom Components
Once you've created the component on your site, you are able to review the data as it is processed, and can track along and manage the development of the custom components.
Add key fields on the Component type (for example, Select “Status,” dates, specs) so you can group, count, and track the component on your dashboards reliably.
Customize Component Visibility and Fields
Set Visibility
Click the newly created component type line.
In the Edit panel under Other Settings, toggle Show on map by default.
Add Custom Fields
Navigate to the Fields tab.
Create custom fields like "Electrical Status".
Add dropdown options (e.g., Orange, Green, Red).
Save your changes.
Final Notes
After import, components will appear on the map as geo-referenced clickable elements.
Use them to track progress, assign tasks, and manage construction data efficiently.
For best results, ensure your DXF layers are organized and labeled properly. If you need help, check this support article or contact support.
