Component Tracking and Completion - Solar Construction Monitoring

Here's where and how components are tracked automatically in Sitemark's Solar Construction Monitoring tool

Updated today

Overview

Solar Construction Monitoring (SCM) tracks specific construction components to ensure consistent progress monitoring across all projects. Each component category has a defined level of importance and clear rules for when it is considered “completed” within the platform.

Components Tracked in SCM

SCM tracks a set of construction components grouped into three priority levels. Only components marked as Label: Yes are labeled during processing and displayed as completed once progress is detected.

✔️ Need-to-Have Components

These are essential for a site to be considered fully set up. Missing these components limits the value of the deliverables.

  • Piles (Labeled)

  • Structures (Labeled)

  • Modules (Labeled)

  • Fences (Labeled)

Completion Labeling:

Labeled automatically during processing once the component is detected and the data has been validated.

✔️ Should-Have Components

Valuable to track but harder to import due to variable design standards. A site can still be considered complete without them (if all Need-to-Haves are present).

  • Trenches (Labeled)

Completion Labeling:

Automatically labeled when available, but may require follow-up with the customer if data is incomplete or missing.

✔️ Nice-to-Have Components

Not required during initial setup but can be added later if the customer wants to track them.

Labeled Components:

  • Combiner box (Physical)

  • Inverter (Physical)

Not Labeled (tracked manually if needed):

  • Strings (Electrical)

  • Combiner box (Electrical)

  • Inverter (Electrical)

  • Custom components

Completion Labeling:

Physical components are labeled during processing.

Electrical and custom components are not labeled and must be tracked manually using custom fields. See our article here about Custom Components

What “Completed” Means in SCM

A component is labeled as completed when:

  1. The component is part of the labeled set (Label: Yes), and

  2. During processing, the component is successfully detected, validated, and included in the site’s setup.

This ensures consistency across all projects and provides customers with a clear overview of construction progress.

Additional Notes

  • We actively follow up with customers to obtain any missing Need-to-Have components.

  • Sitemark can assist with manual interventions (e.g., converting 3D panels or cleaning layers) if required to ensure accurate setup.

  • Components without labeling support can still be monitored through custom fields and manual updates.
